Fort Myers Mighty Mussels News Release
FORT MYERS, FL (April 21, 2006) - With Ruben Sierra done with his rehab assignment and third baseman David Winfree rehabbing his elbow at extended spring, the Miracle added infielder Jose Leger to their roster.
The 23-year-old Leger, who was over at extended spring working on becoming a catcher, spent the 2005 season with the Miracle hitting .279-1-24 in 51 games. In 179 at bats he had 10 doubles with 13 walks and just 39 strike outs.
Leger was signed as a non-drafted free agent by the Minnesota Twins in 2004 out of Georgia College and State University.
"With David over at extended spring trying to get his elbow in good shape, we needed another infielder," said Miracle manager Kevin Boles. "Leger adds a solid glove and a veteran bat at this level. We're very glad with the addition and he will be a key contributor on this club."
The Miracle roster now stands at the maximum 25 players, 12 pitchers and 13 position players.
