Minot Minotauros News Release
by Ken Oda
St. Cloud, MN - The Minotauros head to the Municipal Athletic Complex in St. Cloud, a building they have never lost in while outscoring St. Cloud 39-16 in six contests last season. For St. Cloud, the new name is not just window-dressing; the Norsemen however are not the Blizzard. Their next win will match last season's total. So far this season the Tauros have gone 4-2-0 against the Norsemen with all six contests taking place on the Pepsi Rink at Maysa Arena.
The Tauros are looking to wrap up a long series of road games on a high note after being swept in Aberdeen and Cloquet. Kaiden Scott has paced the Tauros offense against St. Cloud with four goals and three helpers through five games played. Jack Westlund has only played in two of the games but has posted a goal and an assist against the Norsemen. Cade Stibbe is fifth all-time for the Tauros with 20 career points against St. Cloud including a goal and an assist this season. In goal Keenan Rancier has all four Tauro wins against the Norsemen though Carter Clafton has actually posted a better GAA 2.51 to Rancier's 3.00 while taking both losses.
Despite playing only four of the previous meetings Ben Helgeson has led the Norsemen against the Tauros with four goals and two assists accounting for six of his 11 points including all of his goals on the season. Forward Brett Chorske and defenseman Brendan Kim are tied for the team lead with 15 points each, but the Tauros have kept the duo relatively quiet limiting them to four assists combined. Paxton Geisel has been the goalie of record in all six meetings, posting a .916 SV% and 2.66 GAA.
This weekend's games will be on HockeyTV.com, Mixlr, Facebook, and GoTauros.com. The Farmers Union Insurance Pregame Show will start at 6:45 for 7:00 puck drops both nights. The Tauros will then return home to the Pepsi Rink at Maysa Arena to host the Bismarck Bobcats on March 12th. Tickets for that game are available.
