Maryland Black Bears News Release
The Maryland Black Bears looked to snap a season long eight game losing streak as they took on the New Jersey Titans at Piney Orchard Ice Arena. Despite a last ditch effort late in the third, the Black Bears could not overcome the Titans and dropped the game 5-2.
The first period saw New Jersey score twice from forwards Matthew Iasenza and Anthony Calafiore to make it 2-0 New Jersey. Connor Cole responded 36 seconds into the second period for Maryland to cut the deficit to 2-1. The goal was Cole's fifth point in five games. New Jersey got the goal back later that period with a point shot from defenseman Jack Karlsson to make it 3-1. The Titans put the game away with two power play goals from Zach Nazzarett and Blake Humphry to make it 5-1. Maryland began to gain momentum and even got a goal from forward Hunter McCoy to make it 5-2, but the effort fell short. The Black Bears lost its ninth straight game 5-2.
