Minnesota United Hope to Close Spring Season on High Note

Minnesota United FC News Release
SAINT PAUL, Minn. - Minnesota United's (4W-1T-4L, 13pts) ten-match Spring Season has been full of ups and downs. The Loons have played exceptional soccer at times, but have recently failed to convert chances and fallen out of form. Now sitting in seventh and out of contention for the Spring Season Championship, the Loons look toward the Fall Season and earning positive, consistent results both at home and on the road.
"We need more consistency-on the road we have to do better getting results. In back we need to get our shutout streak back and going forward we need to create more opportunities and take our chances," said United defender and captain Justin Davis. "If we do all of those things then we'll be alright."
This Saturday is United's first opportunity to right the ship after last weekend's bitter loss to Rayo OKC and a stumbling past three weeks to the season. United matches up against expansion side Miami FC. Miami defeated FC Edmonton two weeks ago at home for its first win of the season, but has struggled throughout the year, sitting at the bottom of the table above just the Jacksonville Armada. The match kicks off this Saturday at 7 p.m. CDT at NSC Stadium in Blaine. Fans can watch all the action live on MY29 TV and beIN Sports.
The Loons kick off against an in-form Miami FC team this weekend. In its last three league matches, Miami FC has conceded zero goals while playing defense-first counter-attacking soccer. When the club pushed forward and attempted to control play against USL's Wilmington Hammerheads, they were punished 2-1, conceding two goals in the first five minutes of play.
United is focused on getting results and moving toward the top of the table after dropping out of the Spring Season Title race last Saturday. With the 20-match Fall Season looming, there is still plenty to play for and another two league trophies to compete for in 2016. Head Coach Craig and his team feel they have something left to prove, especially after a disappointing finish to the Spring Season campaign.
"More than anything it's an opportunity to take care of business because the lads and myself are bitterly disappointed with how we finished the season, so I think it's time to show what we've really got," said Craig. "There has been adversity, but every team has adversity, we were handed opportunities to take care of business in the right manner and we didn't. There's definitely a feeling of unfinished business within the group and we've got to get it done. Simple as that really."
"Obviously some good results, some not so good, we shot ourselves in the foot a little bit for the Spring title so now it's about getting back on the right track and getting three points at home," said United defender Justin Davis. "As we'll find out later in the year, every point and every game matters so this one is definitely important."
The Loons kick off against Miami FC on June 11th at 7 p.m, match presented by Allina Health. It's a home match for Minnesota United at NSC Stadium. Catch the match live on MY29 and BeIN Sports.
