Ottawa Fury FC News Release

OTTAWA, ON - Ottawa Fury FC are back in action Saturday evening at TD Place as the team closes out its NASL Spring Season schedule against expansion side Rayo OKC. The match marks the end of a jam-packed stretch of six games in 21 days for Fury FC, which saw them play four NASL games and two Amway Canadian Championship fixtures.

Coach Paul Dalglish's side saw its magical run in the Canadian Championship come to an end last Wednesday when Ottawa suffered a 3-0 loss to the Vancouver Whitecaps FC at BC Place. Ottawa produced several scoring opportunities in that game, but was unable to capitalize, ultimately losing the semi-final 3-2 on aggregate.

Despite the loss, Fury FC proved that they could run with an MLS team, which pleased the gaffer.

"I'm very proud of my players for the courage and desired they showed during that game," said Dalglish. "Hopefully it made them realize that the gap between us and them wasn't that big. If our players work hard and apply themselves correctly there is no reason why they couldn't play at that level. It's all about hard-work and determination and I think the players will benefit from this experience."

After spending the past couple weeks shifting focus from league play to cup play and back again, Fury FC now just have a singular goal: wrap up the spring calendar on a positive note and give themselves some momentum heading into the fall campaign.

Despite the schedule and frequent travel, Fury goalkeeper Romuald Peiser said he expects his side to bounce back against Rayo OKC this weekend.

"It's a question of pride," said Peiser. "We have to win this game and there will be no excuses. We will have plenty of time to recover after Saturday's game, so now it's all about showing our mental strength. Personally, I'm very excited to play against an expansion team, it's always a good challenge and I have no problem playing two, three games a week."

Following Saturday's match Fury FC will have a week off before coming back to training at TD Place ahead of their Fall Season opener on the road July 2nd in New York against the Cosmos. Fury FC will host their Fall Season home opener on Sunday July 10th at TD Place against Rayo OKC.
