Minnesota United FC Announces 2014 Combine Dates

Minneapolis, Minn. (December 13, 2013) -- Seeking to bolster its 2014 roster, Minnesota United FC has announced two combines for players wishing to exhibit their skills to the coaching staff. Minnesota will host an open combine on Friday, January 17, 2014, and a three-day invite-only combine February 2-5.

Registration is now available for the open combine, which runs from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., January 17. Space for the open combine is limited, so players wishing to attend are encouraged to turn their applications in early. Interested players should visit MNUnitedFC.com/Combine for registration information. Registration for the open combine must be entered by Tuesday, January 10.

"We are excited to have the combine again this year," said United head coach Manny Lagos. "It's the unknown of players trying to get on professional soccer teams that makes this event exciting for all involved. Historically in this state we have found some really good talent. We want to identify players that can help us in our first team and now even more exciting, for our NPSL [National Professional Soccer League] team. Both combines will be great events and we are excited to help build our 2014 roster."

United will also host an invite-only combine February 2 - 5. To be considered, players should fill out the registration form at MNUnitedFC.com/Combine. Coaches will review applicants, contact former coaches and references and issue invitations in January for this three-day event.

Combines have yielded several players for the club. Italian forward Simone Bracalello and Japanese midfielder Kentaro Takada each made the roster through the combine system. Bracalello led the club with 35 shots in 2013, while scoring 7 goals and amassing 6 assists playing 1,520 minutes. Bracalello was named to the NASL Team of the Week twice and NASL Player of the Month once in 2013. 2014 will mark Bracalello's 5th season with United.

Playing in his 4th season with the club, Kentaro Takada tallied one shot and one assist after playing 875 minutes. Takada was named to the NASL Team of The Week once in 2013.
