Minnesota Swarm signs two more players

SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Minnesota Swarm general manager Marty O'Neill announced today that the National Lacrosse League (NLL) team has signed forwards Kasey Beirnes and Tony Henderson to 2006 contracts.

Beirnes, 25 (6/17/80), appeared in one game with the Arizona Sting in 2005 before suffering a season-ending injury and recorded one goal. He was acquired by Minnesota in a trade with Arizona on June 23, 2005 along with defenseman Darryl Gibson in exchange for a first round draft pick in the 2006 and 2007 NLL Entry Draft. The 5-foot-11, 195-pound forward collected 62 points (33-29=62) and 61 loose balls in 16 games with the Sting in 2004. Beirnes established career highs in goals and points during the 2004 campaign and ranked second on the team in goals and fifth in scoring. He has recorded 168 points (91-77=168) and 214 loose balls in 49 career NLL contests during four seasons with Columbus and Arizona.

Henderson, 31 (8/13/74), recorded five points (3-2=5) in three games with Minnesota last season after being signed as a free agent on March 26, 2005. The 6-foot-4, 240-pound forward also appeared in one game with Arizona last season before being released on March 24. He has collected 78 points (47-31=78), 118 loose balls and 77 penalty minutes in 33 career NLL games during five seasons with Syracuse, Philadelphia, Arizona and Minnesota.
