
Miners Offense Continutes to Slump Is Loss to Jr. Blues

SPRINGFIELD, IL - The Ice Miners led for all of about two minutes on Friday night at Nelson Center, the home of the Springfield Jr. Blues, and surrendered three straight goals on the way to a 3-1 loss to their division foes. It was the Ice Miners third straight loss, dropping them to 5-5-1 on the season.
Cameron Smith scored the opening goal of the game, 8:45 into the first period when he took a feed from Lordanthony Grissom and scored his 2nd of the season and NAHL career. It didn't take the Jr. Blues very long to tie the score, however, as Nikita Prisyvalko went around an Ice Miners defenseman and goaltender Alex Blankenburg to tie the score at 10:24. Only 1:09 after that, Springfield grabbed the lead when Michael Crowley tipped home home a powerplay goal. The score was 2-1 after one period.
Crowley scored his 2nd of the night in the second period at 10:36 on a wrister past Blankenburg. Dryden McKay shut down the Ice Miners the rest of the way, stopping 28 of 29 overall shots. The Jr. Blues improved to 3-6-0 on the season. Keystone and Springfield will tangle again on Saturday night at 8:05 ET. The game will be broadcast on FASTHockey.com, with the "away" feed carrying the Ice Miners play-by-play network.
