Magicians Beat Blizzard 3-0

The Brookings Blizzard lost to the Minnesota Magicians 3-0 at home Friday night at the Larson Ice Center.

Lukas Laub scored for the Magicians with 32 seconds left in the first period to give Minnesota a 1-0 lead going into the first intermission. Taylor Brierly and Curtis Simonson were credited with the assists on the goal.

No goals were scored in a penalty filled second period. 36 penalty minutes were recorded as the Blizzard were outshot 13-9 in the frame.

In the third period Kane Durment scored off of a Tony Uglem assist to give the Magicians a 2-0 lead with just over 13 minutes to play in the game. Brady Heppner would get one more goal in the final minute on an empty net to give the Magicians a 3-0 win.

Vaughan Ahrens had 27 saves on 27 shots for the shutout victory in net for Minnesota. Eric Hancock has 28 saves in the loosing effort.

The Blizzard are now 3-4-1 on the season.

The Blizzard will hit the road today and head to Richfield to take on the Magicians in the second gave of this home and home series. The puck will drop at 7:05pm.
