Milwaukee, WI, January 24, 2005 â The Milwaukee Wave will enjoy this upcoming weekend off, as the team has no games scheduled. The Wave looks to rebound from two weekend losses versus the Cleveland Force and against the Chicago Storm, when it hosts the St. Louis Steamers on Friday, February 4 at the U.S. Cellular Arena (7:00 p.m.). February 4th is also the second "Kicks for Tix" contest, in which one lucky fan will win roundtrip tickets for two (2) courtesy of Midwest Airlines. Groups of 25 or more that attended a Wave home game between December 31 and February 4 will select one group representative to participate in the halftime goal kicking contest.

The Milwaukee Wave and St. Louis Steamers will meet for the fourth time this season on Friday, February 4, game time is set for 7:00 p.m. In the first meeting, the Wave recorded a 6-4 victory on 12/3 at the Savvis Center, with six different Wave players collecting goals to secure the win. The two teams met again one week later, with the Wave taking a 3-2 win on 12/11 at U.S. Cellular Arena. Wave forward Greg Howes recorded all three assists in the win and Johnny Torres collected the game-winner in the final period. The teams last met on January 7, with St. Louis taking a 6-5 overtime victory at âThe Cell.' The Wave's Troy Dusosky and Giuliano Oliviero collected two goals in the final minute to tie the score, but was unable to complete the comeback, as Sterling Wescott recorded the game-winner in the extra session.
Wave of Kindness: The Wave of Kindness is an initiative that allows the Milwaukee Wave to connect with the greater Milwaukee community at large. For each Wave of Kindness bracelet purchased at $2.50 each, a ticket to a Milwaukee Wave home game will be donated to a local charity. The Wave of Kindness bracelet is available at merchandise stands at the U.S. Cellular Arena during Wave home games.
Schmidt Shows Durability: Defender Matt Schmidt recorded his 100th career block against the Chicago Storm on Sunday, January 23. The 25-year-old Milwaukee native currently leads the team in blocks with 25, placing him tied for fifth on the MISL blocks list. Yesterday's contest also marked the 103rd consecutive game that Schmidt has played in; this is the longest streak for a current Wave player.
Howes Notches 100th Career Block: Wave forward Greg Howes recorded his 100th career block on Saturday (1/22) vs. the Cleveland Force. Playing in his fifth season with the Wave, Howes currently leads the team in scoring with 21 points. He has converted 10 goals and a team leading 11 assists on the season.
Last Action: 1-22 vs. CLE â L â 4-3 (OT) â The Wave was defeated by the Cleveland Force by a score of 4-3 in overtime in front of 5,140 fans at the U.S. Cellular Arena. Robbie Aristodemo was credited for the game-winning goal, as it bounced off his back past a helpless Wave goalkeeper Nick Vorberg. Milwaukee got on the board first with a goal by Nino Marcantonio, but Cleveland responded with two quick goals Chris Dore and Adauto Neto. Marcelo Fontana and Giuliano Oliviero each tallied a goal in the losing effort for the Wave. Jim Larkin recorded the win in goal for the Force, stopping 24-of-27 shots on the night.
1-23 @ CHI â L â 7-3 â The Milwaukee Wave fell 7-5 to the first year Chicago Storm at the UIC Pavilion on Sunday. Chicago got on the board first with a goal by Matthew Stewart in the first period. Milwaukee answered with a goal by Johnny Torres, but the Storm went on to collect six unanswered goals to take a 7-1 lead midway through the third period. The Wave held the Storm scoreless in the fourth quarter and tallied two goals by Semir Mesanovic to cut the deficit to four. The season series between the two clubs is now even at 3-3.
