Milwaukee Wave News Release

Wave (9-1) vs. Syracuse Silver Knights (6-7), 6:30 p.m.

QUICK FACTS:

SERIES RECORD: 0-0

MILWAUKEE COACH: Keith Tozer (641-387/27 seasons)

MISSOURI COACH: Tommy Tanner

THE SKINNY:

The Milwaukee Wave will make its maiden voyage to Syracuse to kick off a five game road trip where it will begin by taking on the expansion franchise Syracuse Silver Knights for the first time ever.

The Wave is coming off a bounce-back victory against Missouri after suffering its first defeat of the season against Baltimore. Marco Terminesi scored his first goal of the season against the Comets to record his first points after missing the first seven games and led Milwaukee in points scored with three. Although Missouri attempted a comeback in the final quarter, the Wave's defense bent but didn't break and Milwaukee came out victorious 11-7.

Syracuse will come into the match having won three of five but losing its most recent tilt at Baltimore 21-6. The Knights fell behind 9-2 in the first quarter and weren't able to recover from there. One characteristic in all of their matches is the high scoring nature. When Syracuse isn't putting up gaudy numbers it is allowing them. It is scoring 13.85 points a match but giving up 15.62. The Knights have only played three close games this season with every other result being a blowout.

They are led on offense by Slavisa Ubiparapovic whose 40 points this season put him fourth on the MISL's coring list. He was held scoreless in their most recent game, though, getting shutout for only the second time this season. As a team, seven players have notched double digits with all active players on the roster having recorded at least one point. Milwaukee will have a difficult time containing this potent attack.

As for the Wave, defense has been the name of the game only allowing 8.9 points per game, almost 7 less than the Silver Knights. Milwaukee hasn't allowed an opponent to score double digit points in over a month, when they gave up 18 in a victory on Dec. 2. Offensively Milwaukee isn't too shabby either. Nine players have recorded double-digit points with five of those reaching the 20-point mark. The Wave lead the MISL in points per game, averaging 14.8 per contest. They will need all of those points to take on five straight road games.

WAVE MILESTONE WATCH:

Marco Terminesi: 50 2-point goals (48)

Josh Rife: 100 career points (96)

Giuliano Oliviero: 100 blocks with Wave (99)

Monday, January 16th @ Rochester, 6 p.m.

Friday, January 20th @ Wichita, 7:35 p.m.
