Milwaukee Wave News Release

MILWAUKEE (February 10, 2005) – Milwaukee Wave Vice President of Soccer Operations and Head Coach Keith Tozer announced today the signing of a two-year contract with defender Chad Dombrowski. Dombrowski hails from West Allis and a family full of soccer talent. The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) alum will be making his professional indoor soccer debut this weekend.

Dombrowski was drafted by Milwaukee as the eighth overall selection (Territorial Round) in the 2003 Major Indoor Soccer League Amateur Draft. The 24-year-old made his professional debut in the Wave United's inaugural campaign in 2003. That season he tallied five goals and three assists for 13 points and logged an impressive 2,060 minutes for the club. In 2004, he was the team's fourth leading scorer, collecting four goals and three assists for 11 points.

"I felt we needed to add toughness to the backline and Chad brings that," said coach Tozer. "Chad was one of the best man markers in the A-League and we are looking for him to bring the same tenacity to the indoor game."

The Dombrowski family is known locally for their soccer talent. Chad is one of five brothers who have shared their soccer skills with the UWM Panthers: Scott, Chad, Tighe, Neil and Zeke. Chad is the first son to sign an indoor contract with the Major Indoor Soccer League.

The Wave has also acquired the rights to defender Sinisa Alebic from the St. Louis Steamers in exchange for the rights to Martin Dugas and other cash considerations. The Croatia native played three prior seasons with the Wave (2000-01, 2001-02 and 2002-03), compiling 39 points and 92 blocks in 88 total appearances. The 35-year-old spent last season with the Dallas Sidekicks, following the 2004 Major Indoor Soccer League Expansion Draft, and had one of his finest seasons tallying eight goals and four assists for 12 points. These numbers earned Alebic the first MISL All-Star selection of his career.

"With veteran Troy Dusosky out for the remainder of the season, we feel acquiring the right to Sinisa Alebic will be able add experience and determination to our team, while enhancing our efforts to move forward," commented coach Tozer.
