Milwaukee Bucks Forward Mamadi Diakite Transferred to Lakeland Magic

February 5, 2021 - NBA G League (G League)
Osceola Magic News Release

Milwaukee Bucks Two-Way forward Mamadi Diakite had been transferred to the Lakeland Magic, the Orlando Magic's NBA G League affiliate, pursuant to the NBA's Two-Way rules.

Diakite is in his first year in the NBA and NBA G League after playing college basketball for the Virginia Cavaliers where he was part of the 2019 NCAA National Championship team. He was named to the 2019-20 All-ACC second team and All-ACC defensive team. As a senior Diakite averaged 13.7 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game.

Diakite will join Lakeland at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando, Fla., where the team will be playing its 2021 season. The Bucks' NBA G League affiliate, the Wisconsin Herd, opted not to travel to the NBA G League's campus. NBA teams without an NBA G League affiliate participating in Orlando have the opportunity to assign roster players and transfer Two-Way players using the league's flexible assignment and Two-Way rules.

Lakeland tips off its 2021 campaign on Thursday, February 11, against the Austin Spurs.
