
Mill Rats Calm the Storm 102-93

(SAINT JOHN, NB): The Saint John Mill Rats calmed the Island Storm 102-93 in the second game of a back-to-back home and away series.
Mill Rats guards Anthony Anderson and Doug Herring Jr combined for 48 points, and power forward Gabe Freeman added 24 points and 10 rebounds.
The Mill Rats big in the first quarter before the Storm closed within 29-24 after one. At the half it was 48-44 Saint John.
The Island Storm tied the game at 85-85 with 5:30 left to play, but Freeman completed a 3-point play to make it 88-85. Herring Jr went down the lane for a finger roll and followed that up with two free throws for an 95-89 lead with 2:12 remaining.
Herring Jr through a lob to 6'2 Chris Smith who brought the house down with a massive two handed alley oop slam and a 97-89 lead with 1:57 left.
Anderson sliced to the hoop for two and sealed it 101-91 under a minute to play.
Saint John improves to 22-14 on the season while PEI falls to 12-23.
The Mill Rats are back at home on Friday night to host the two time defending champion Windsor Express in their only visit to Harbour Station.
