New York, NY - The New York Titans, the Big Apple's first ever professional lacrosse franchise, are proud to announce they have signed Syracuse band Mikey Powell and the Villains Trust to play during the Titans warm-up at their next home game at the Garden against the Buffalo Bandits on Sunday, February 10 at 12:00pm.
Formed in Syracuse, NY, Villains Trust's jam-rock quartet is the long harbored passion of front man/singer/songwriter Mike Powell come to fruition. Powell, a former Syracuse University lacrosse star, has captured world-wide attention with his outstanding athletic abilities, eccentric style and fan appeal. Despite the accolades from the sports world, Mike's true passion - his music - has sat on the back burner... until now. Having discovered and enlisted the talents of three Syracuse-native musicians - John Hanus (lead guitar), Joe Bell (bass guitar) and Lewk Detor (drums) - this promising outfit has taken their individual talents and a broad spectrum of influences and woven a tapestry of sonic power around Powell's soulful voice and story-telling lyrical style.
Mikey Powell is the younger brother of Titans star Casey Powell, and a lacrosse star in his own right. A four-time All American at Syracuse University and star attack man for the MLL's Boston Cannons, Powell is the youngest of the three legendary lacrosse Powell brothers. Along with his older brothers Ryan, a forward for the Portland LumberJax, and Casey, Mikey wore number 22 at Syracuse. Mikey Powell still sits atop the list as the all-time leading scorer in Syracuse lacrosse history.
"I can't tell you how excited we all are to have this opportunity, we have to be the luckiest band in the world," Powell said of Villains Trust's upcoming show at the Garden. "We are going to take advantage of this opportunity and play the best set we can to get the Titans fired up to beat Buffalo."
At the Titans home game against the Bandits on Sunday, February 10, Mikey Powell and the Villians Trust will play during the Titans official warm-up and will take to the stage at 12pm. Face-off for the Titans game is set to take place at 12:30pm. Individual game tickets for the February 10th game are on sale through www.ticketmaster.com or at the Madison Square Garden box office.
