Florence RedWolves News Release

The RedWolves announce the signing of two players from Michigan State University. Joel Fisher a 6-2, 215lb So. Catcher and Anthony Cheky a 5-11, 165lb Fr. OF are two top level players joining the roster for 2012. "Once again we have been able to sign some great players from a D1 program that will be instrumental to our success this summer. Michigan St assistant coach Graham Sikes, coached with the RedWolves for two seasons and called us about Cheky and Fisher coming here to play. Sikes knows what we are looking for and what type of player is a good fit for the RedWolves, so we are very happy that he is sending us two of his top guys." Jamie Young, GM

Red Wolves to Raise $20,000 for Non-Profits

The Florence Red Wolves baseball team recently announced their plans to raise $20,000.00 for local non-profit organizations. The Red Wolves have begun raising this money through a program which is modeled after the highly successful F.A.M. program being implemented by the Gastonia Grizzlies and previously used by the Augusta Green Jackets. The program called F.A.M. stands for fund raising, awareness and momentum, and was first introduced by Emily McDonald (Director of Fun for the Grizzlies).

F.A.M. gives area non-profits the opportunity to purchase tickets at a special rate and sell them throughout the community for a higher price. The difference is kept by the non-profit organization as a donation to them. In addition to the fund raising ticket sales, groups that team up with the Red Wolves will now have the opportunity to lead the 50/50 raffle at the ballpark, and to keep the Red Wolves 50% of that raffle as a donation to the charitable organization. "This is a huge opportunity for any charity in our area, as we have had raffles that generated hundreds of dollars at many games", said Red Wolves GM, Jamie Young. "The program also gives these charitable groups the opportunity to set up a table at our stadium, giving them a large presence at our stadium throughout the night. This should help our fans gain awareness and start momentum for their organization and their cause."

Red Wolves owners, Kevin and Donna Barth, are very excited about implementing this program and have set a goal of raising $20,000.00 for local charities this summer. "Since we bought the team 11 years ago, we have worked very hard to help local charities raise money for their groups. We want to continue these efforts, but in a bigger way. The F.A.M. program is, by far, the most exciting fund raiser we have ever had for our local charities. We know that raising $20,000 for them in one summer is a lofty goal. But we are confident that our fans will help us achieve this", says owner, Kevin Barth.

Groups can learn more about this program by calling the Red Wolves office at 629-0700, or checking the website www.florenceredwolves.com under the "non-profit" heading.
