Michael Gershon Named North Coach for NAHL Top Prospects Tournament

PORT HURON, MI - The Port Huron Fighting Falcons, proud members of the North American Hockey League, are pleased to announce that Head Coach and General Manager Michael Gershon has been named the coach of the North Division's team at the NAHL Top Prospects Tournament to be held in Troy, Michigan on February 17 and 18.

The NAHL's 7th annual Top Prospects Tournament is designed to provide participating players with maximum exposure to college coaches and professional scouts. Each year, the event draws over 200 scouts, and serves as a launching pad for NAHL players to jump to the collegiate and professional ranks.

The 2014 tournament will feature six teams. Each of the NAHL's four divisions will send a team of 20 players to compete at the event. They will be joined in competition by the NAHL 18U selects, a team comprised of the top players eligible for the 2014 NHL Entry Draft as identified by the NHL's Central Scouting Department. The U.S. National Under 17-team will also participate in the tournament.

Moe Mantha, Head Coach of the Michigan Warriors, will join Gershon as an assistant coach.

"Top Prospects is a great event to showcase the talent we have in our league, and I'm looking forward to giving players from the North Division the best opportunity possible to perform in front of all the scouts who will be there."

As the leaders of the North Division, the Fighting Falcons will send five players to the Top Prospects Tournament, whose roster will be determined over the next few weeks.

The 2014 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament will be held at the Troy Sports Center. Daily passes to the event will cost just $10. Tournament games will also be available on www.FastHockey.com.
