Miami FC Prepares to Take on LA Galaxy II at Home
June 23, 2022 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Miami FC News Release
Miami, Fla. - The Miami Football Club returns to USL Championship action after a two-week break. Miami FC will defend FIU Stadium from Western Conference foe LA Galaxy II on Saturday at 7 p.m. ET.
Manager Anthony Pulis and his men find themselves in eighth place in the Eastern Conference, with 21 points after 16 games. The side leads the league in clean sheets, with seven along with Lousiville City F.C. However, the team has struggled to match its defensive efficiency in attack, scoring 18 goals.
Miami FC looks to bounce back from a 2-1 home defeat at the hands of in-state rivals Tampa Bay Rowdies. The loss snapped Miami's five-game unbeaten streak. Nonetheless, captain Paco Craig is back from injury and ready to help Miami return to winning ways.
"Getting back in this week, getting a good week's training, more than anything has just given me more gratitude, as it's made me even hungrier for what's coming next."
The clash against LA Galaxy II arrives at the halfway point of the 2022 USL Championship season. Only six points separate Miami FC from fourth-place Detroit City FC. A victory over the Galaxy would set up Miami FC nicely ahead of a two-match run away from home.
Joaquín Rivas: Mid-Season Aquisition
The club announced the signing of Salvadoran international Joaquín Rivas on Wednesday. Rivas, who is a forward by nature, joins MFC from FC Tulsa. On the same day, the club announced that right-back Sean McFarlane would be headed for Tulsa. The deal reflects an emphasis on the club's interest in improving offensively, heading into the latter half of the season.

Pulis and Rivas worked together at St. Louis FC in 2019 and 2020. The Welshman knows what Rivas is capable of bringing to South Florida.
"Joaquín is a talented player," said Pulis. "He can play in any of the front four positions. He can score and make goals and I know he will fit into the group really well."
