Miami FC Hosts Indy Eleven on Wednesday, June 8
June 7, 2022 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Miami FC News Release
Miami, Fla. - The Miami Football Club returns to South Florida to go toe-to-toe with Eastern Conference adversary Indy Eleven. The fixture will take place at FIU Stadium on Wednesday, starting at 7 p.m. ET.
Miami FC is coming back from a goalless draw in Oklahoma against FC Tulsa on Saturday. Goalkeeper Connor Sparrow produced five saves to earn his sixth clean sheet of the season - second-most in the league - and Miami's seventh across 14 games - tied with Louisville City FC for most in the league.
MFC's result against the Roughnecks extended its undefeated streak to four, three draws and one win. Two of the three draws came at home against Detroit City and Pittsburgh Riverhounds, and the third was against FC Tulsa. The win was against Charleston Battery by a score of 4-0.
About Indy Eleven
Indy Eleven is enjoying its 2022 USL Championship campaign so far, sitting sixth in the Eastern Conference table. The Boys in Blue gathered 20 points in 12 matches, averaging 1.66 points per game. The results have been a true testament to the improvement under new head coach Mark Lowry, who arrived at Indianapolis to coach a team that averaged 0.91 points per match in 2021.
Like Miami FC, Indy Eleven relies on sturdy defending and an average output of goals. The Indianapolis side scored 18 goals and conceded 15, similar to Miami's 16 goals and 12 against.
Indiana's Team has been more effective at home, winning four, drawing one and losing one. However, Indy Eleven is 2W-1D-3L on the road. The Boys in Blue hope to improve their away record when they face Miami FC on Wednesday at FIU Stadium.
Indy Eleven is coming off a 4-3 home win against Charleston Battery, where Venezuelan forward Manuel Arteaga scored a hat-trick to secure three points for the Boys in Blue. Brazilian forward Stephano Pinho, who leads the team in scoring with six goals, scored his sixth of the season against Charleston.
Up Next for Miami FC
The Orange and Blue continue its three-game home skid against in-state rivals Tampa Bay Rowdies on Saturday. The Rowdies arrive at Miami after a 1-0 home win against Louisville City FC.
Miami FC hopes to come out victorious in the Florida Derby twice in a season for the first time in history after taking three points at Al Lang Stadium earlier this year.
