Cedar Rapids RoughRiders News Release

Cedar Rapids, Iowa- Cedar Rapids RoughRiders assistant coach Scott Meyer is leaving the team after two seasons, the RoughRiders announced today. Meyer departs to pursue other interests in the Twin Cities.

During his time in Cedar Rapids, Meyer helped the Riders to back-to-back United States Hockey League East Division titles. Meyer was also behind the bench for the Riders' drive to the 2004-05 USHL Clark Cup championship.

"Scott did a tremendous job for us in his two years here," said RoughRiders Coach and General Manager Mark Carlson. "We are very thankful for all his hard work and wish him the best of luck."

Meyer arrived in Cedar Rapids in the summer of 2004 after completing his professional goaltending career. During his three pro seasons, Meyer spent time with the National Hockey League's New York Rangers, the American Hockey League's Hartford Wolfpack and the ECHL's Charlotte Checkers. In 2003-04, his final season as a player, Meyer went 15-11-2 with a 2.43 goals against average, three shutouts and a .923 save percentage in 32 games with Charlotte.

Prior to turning pro, Meyer was a standout at St. Cloud State, earning All-America honors as a senior in 2000-01 and twice being named an All-Western Collegiate Hockey Association selection. Meyer was also named to the 2001 WCHA All-Tournament Team after backstopping St. Cloud to the first league championship in school history.

Meyer, a native of White Bear Lake, Minnesota, played in the USHL in 1995-96 for the now defunct Fargo-Moorhead Bears. He spent the 1994-95 campaign in the North American League with the Danville Wings.

The two-time defending East Division Champion RoughRiders will open their eighth season in Cedar Rapids this fall. 2006-07 season tickets are currently available through the RoughRiders' business office (247-0340). Fans who pay for season tickets in full before August 15 will receive a significant discount in addition to a host of other benefits available exclusively to season ticket holders.
