Kingsport Axmen News Release

Kingsport, TN - The Kingsport Mets were able to bounce back with one of their best games of the season, as they were able to knock off the Danville Braves 3-1 in the second game of this three-game series.

While the game ended victoriously for the Mets, for the first five innings the game belonged to the visitors from Southern Virginia.

Danville grabbed a 1-0 lead on a two-out RBI double in the second inning and starting pitcher Mitch Stallings made it stand up for the five innings he appeared.

However, once Stallings was pulled the Mets' bats awoke to the tune of three runs off the Danville bullpen.

It was back-to-back two-out doubles in the sixth inning by Francisco Alvarez and Jaylen Palmer which tied the game at one.

Then in the seventh the first four Mets reached. Scott Ota, who finished 3-4 with a pair of doubles, led off the frame with a two-bagger. Then after Tanner Murphy walked, Cristopher Pujols and Anthony Dirocie each recorded RBI hits to give the Mets a two-run lead.

Jefferson Escorcha picked up his league-leading seventh victory by retiring all twelve men he faced, and Nick MacDonald picked up the save with a 1-2-3 ninth inning.

The series will wrap up tomorrow night with the third and final game against the Braves. Tomorrow is Senior Night presented by Humana, where seniors will receive special ticket and drink offers. First pitch is set for 6:30.
