FC DALLAS Recap: The MetroStars beat Western Conference leading FC Dallas 3-2 on July 27. The Metros were down 2-1, but had a strong surge in the second half, led by Sergio Galvan Rey and Mike Magee who both scored goals. Ante Razov also had a goal for the Metros.

CLOSING IN: With his goal against FC Dallas on July 27, MetroStars forward Ante Razov is quickly ascending the league all time goal scoring list. Currently he sits in fourth place, just three shy of D.C. Uniteds Jaime Moreno.

MLS ALL-TIME LEADERS IN GOALS SCORED

Italics= Active player

1. Jason Kreis, RSL, 97

2. Roy Lassiter, 88

3. Jaime Moreno, DC, 86

4. Ante Razov, MetroStars 83

5. Raul Diaz Arce, 82

STAMMLER PLAYS: MetroStars defender Seth Stammler got his first significant amount of playing time on July 27 vs FC Dallas when he came in as a sub at halftime for Jeff Parke who had a stomach virus. Stammler played well along with the other back three as the Metros only allowed one goal to Dallas in the second half of a 3-2 MetroStars win.

MEOLA GETS FIRST WIN: MetroStars goalkeeper Tony Meola got his first win of the season last week for the MetroStars. The win came on July 27 on a 3-2 win against Western Conference leading FC Dallas. Meola made six saves in the win.

A FIRST FOR YOURI: Forward Youri Djorkaeff wore the captains armband for the first time in his MLS career against FC Dallas on July 27. He is the third different captain the Metros have had this year- with Amado Guevara (16 games) and Jeff Agoos (3 games).

DJORKAEFF AND RAZOV KEYS TO METROSTARS SUCCESS: The MetroStars are now 4-1-1 on the season when forward Youri Djorkaeff either scores a goal or tallies an assist. The Metros have had similar success when Razov scores a goal or tallies an assist as they have a 2-0-2 record when this happens.

METROS TRAVEL TO ROCHESTER FOR OPEN CUP:

The MetroStars will travel to Rochester on August 3, for the fourth round of the U.S. Open Cup. The Metros will take on the Raging Rhinos for the second time this season. Previously the team tied the Rhinos 1-1 in an exhibition match earlier in the season.

TV SCHEDULE CHANGE: Due to hockey season, MSG will no longer carry the telecast of Metros at Chicago on October 5. Instead, they will be covering the game Saturday, Sept. 10 at Kansas City.

LEITCH OFF OF CAUTION POINTS WARNING: MetroStars defender Chris Leitch is off of caution points warning due to his clean play in his last three games.

When a player is on caution point warning, Major League Soccers rules provide a good behavior clause, which reduces a players caution point total if they play three games without receiving a card. Since Leitch did not receive a yellow card in the MetroStars last three games he is now off of official warning from the league.

UNBEATEN AT HOME IN LAST SEVEN: After going winless in their first five home games of the season, the Metros have put together an unbeaten streak of six games at home. The Metros are 4-0-3 during this stretch, beating Chicago, Columbus, L.A. and FC Dallas while tying D.C., New England and Colorado.

METROSTARS TO TELEVISE FOUR GAMES IN SPANISH ON FSNY: The MetroStars and the Madison Square Garden (MSG) Network announced on June 17 that in addition to their English broadcasts, they will broadcast four games in Spanish this season on Fox Sports New York.

Metro soccer report: MSG will air the Metro Soccer Report this week on Thursday at 11:00 p.m. ET. The show will also re-run three more times (on Friday at 6:30 p.m. ET and 11:00 p.m. ET and on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. ET).
