Mendonca Commits to Bulls

BELLEVILLE, ON - Belleville Bulls Head Coach and General Manager George Burnett announced Monday that Mitchell Mendonca has committed to the club.
The 5'11", 170 lb centreman was drafted in the fifth round of the 2014 OHL priority selection. Selected from the Southern Tier Admirals of the OMHA, Mendonca captained the 2013-2014 Minor Midget squad to to a silver medal in the OMHA Championship and was a major contributor offensively, scoring 13 goals and adding 16 assists in 37 regular season games played.
"I would say I am a fast, shifty, play making forward. I can play the body when games get chippy and put the puck in the net when needed. I am very excited about the opportunity and look forward to starting my OHL career in Belleville," said Mendonca.
The 16 year old, who models his game after Brad Marchand, is now in his first season with the Thorold Blackhawks of the GOJHL and continues to exhibit offensive prowess, burying 15 goals and handing out 14 assists in 33 games played.
"Mitchell had a strong training camp with our club and on upon his return to Thorold he continued to improve in all areas of the game. He has led his club throughout the year and for his strong play was selected as the MVP of the most recent GOJHL all-star game," said Burnett. "Mitchell is an elite skater with excellent vision and skills and will be a welcomed addition to the Bulls organization."
If the opportunity presents itself, Mendonca could be in the Bulls lineup before the end of the season.
