Memphis Blanks Tucson 6-0

Tucson, AZ - The Sidewinders were shutout 6-0 by Memphis on Tuesday afternoon.

Memphis starter Jamie Garcia didn't give up a run in seven innings of work and allowed six hits, while striking out six Sidewinder batters.

Memphis scored the first runs of the game in the fourth inning off a Joe Mather solo shot, a Jarrett Hoffpauir sacrifice fly, and a Bryan Anderson RBI single gave the Redbirds a 3-0 lead.

Memphis added two more in the eighth from a Nick Stavinoha RBI single and another Hoffpauir sac fly scoring Stavinoha from third. Josh Phelps pinched hit in the ninth and hit a solo shot to right to extend lead and secure the win for the Redbirds.

The Sidewinders left eight runners on base and only had two batters past second base in the entire game but were unable to put a run on the score board.

Arizona Diamondback Chad Tracy who is on major league rehab assignment went 1-for-4 in his fourth game for the Sidewinders.

After an off day the Sidewinders will travel to Tacoma to face the Tacoma Rainiers at 7:00 PM on Thursday night. RHP Billy Buckner (1-3, 5.74) is scheduled to start for Tucson. Right-hander Sean White (2-2, 4.93) will start for the Rainiers. The game will air live on COOL 1450 beginning at 6:50 p.m.
