Memphis 901 FC Signs Midfielder Bruno Lapa to Multi-Year Contract

Memphis, Tenn. - Memphis 901 FC announced Wednesday that the club has signed forward Bruno Lapa, pending league and federation approval.

The veteran attacker adds USL Championship experience and postseason pedigree having spent the past three seasons with Birmingham Legion FC, notching 19 goals and 11 assists over 70 total appearances with two of those goals coming in the playoffs.

"It says a lot about the group here that as a club we're able to attract the talent of a player like Bruno," Head Coach Stephen Glass said. "He's a proven goal scorer in the league from midfield, which any team would like, and we're fortunate that he's chosen Memphis as his new home, and we look forward to seeing what he provides on the field."

The Brazilian international earned All-League First Team honors in his first year with seven goals and five assists and surpassed at least five goals and 1,300 minutes on the pitch in each of his three seasons. Lapa scored six goals with four assists in 1,584 minutes played and delivered a hat trick against Loudoun United during his 2022 campaign.

Lapa played collegiately at Wake Forest, where he scored 23 goals and 15 assists in 80 appearances. Lapa was also named 2018 ACC Midfielder of the Year and earned All-American honors in his junior and senior seasons.

"I'm extremely excited to join such a great club like 901 FC," Lapa said. "I'm looking forward to joining a talented group of players and staff in hopes to help the club bring a trophy to the city of Memphis and its deserving fan base."

Memphis 901 FC will open the 2023 regular season with a matchup against Loudoun United on March 11 at AutoZone Park. Season tickets for 2023 are available now on the club's official website.
