Memphis 901 FC News Release
CARY, North Carolina - Memphis 901 FC wraps up its three-match road trip Saturday as the club heads to Cary for its first meeting with North Carolina FC.
Kickoff for Saturday's match at WakeMed Soccer Park is set for 6:00 p.m. CT. It can be seen locally on CW30 Memphis and streamed on ESPN+ on any device.
Memphis is looking to end its three-week trip away from AutoZone Park just like how it began; with three points. The club earned its first win in franchise history March 24 against Bethlehem Steel FC.
Memphis (1-2-1, 4 pts) has steadily improved since the March 9 season opener and is in prime position to jump back into the Top 10 in the Eastern Conference standings.
Saturday will be a homecoming for one of 901 FC's promising young players, goalkeeper Jeff Caldwell, who hails from Todd, North Carolina.
Caldwell already has a clean sheet and seven saves under his belt in the early stages of his rookie season. He'll be looking to add on his impressive résumé in front of family and friends Saturday night.
Caldwell has grown under the tutelage of goalkeeper guru and 901 FC head coach Tim Mulqueen. Mulqueen has helped Memphis jump out to a strong start and will lead his club against one of the few remaining undefeated clubs in the conference, North Carolina FC.
North Carolina (2-0-1, 7 pts) is led by one of Mulqueen's friends and former U.S. Soccer colleague Dave Sarachan. Sarachan served as an assistant with the U.S. Men's National Team from 1999 to 2002 before returning to the same role in 2017. He was the interim USMNT head coach from 2017 to 2018 before taking over in Cary.
Thomas McCabe and Marios Lomis lead North Carolina with a pair of goals each.
It'll be a quick turnaround for 901 FC following Saturday's match.
The club returns home to Memphis Wednesday, April 10 for its next home match against Atlanta United 2. The USL Championship Game of the Week kicks off at 7:00 p.m. at AutoZone Park will be nationally televised on ESPNews.
Single match tickets for that match and all home matches in April are now on sale.
Season tickets, group tickets, and 7 Match Flex Plans are also available, with full season tickets starting at just $10 per match. Call (901) 721-6000 or go to www.memphis901fc.com/tickets for more information on all ticket options.
