Memphis 901 FC Acquires Atlanta United Defender Aiden McFadden on Loan

Memphis, Tenn. - Memphis 901 FC announced on Monday the club has acquired Aiden McFadden on loan from MLS side Atlanta United for the remainder of the 2023 season, pending league and federation approval.

The 24-year-old defender joins the Beale Street Boys adding MLS and USL Championship experience to the back line.

"We are delighted to welcome Aiden to the club," Assistant Sporting Director Caleb Patterson-Sewell said. "He is a player we have had on our radar for a while. He can play in multiple positions, is very good defensively and likes to get forward into the attack. He's had success in our league, which is important. We look forward to Aiden contributing for the remainder of the 2023 season."

McFadden was selected by Atlanta United with the 59th overall selection in the 2021 MLS SuperDraft and broke the Atlanta United 2 single-season scoring record in his rookie season with eight goals to go with three assists in 29 appearances. McFadden was quickly moved up to the first team roster permanently during the 2022 season and made 11 MLS appearances.

"For us to be trusted with his continued development is fantastic news as he gives the team a boost ahead of the important final stages of the regular season and our plans for the postseason."

The West Chester, Pennsylvania, native played collegiately at Notre Dame from 2017-2020, making 55 appearances for the Fighting Irish with eight goals and six assists.

McFadden will be available for selection as Memphis 901 FC heads to the West Coast to take on San Diego Loyal SC in an interconference matchup on Saturday, August 12 at 9 p.m. CT.
