Mechanics win third in a row by knocking off Jackals

ELMIRA, NY-For the second consecutive night, the line of Adam Edinger, Peter Szabo and Brent Gretzky lead the charge against the Elmira Jackals as they combined for 10 points and knock off the Jackals 6-2 tonight at the First Arena.

David Herring tied the game at 1-1 when he scored just 1:42 into the second period with assists coming from Greg Bullock and Vlad Serov. Serov would strike again as he would make it 2-1 when he scored midway through the period.

Five goals were scored in the third period, four by the Mechanics. Brent Gretzky got his first of two on the night on the power play 5:00 into the third period. 1:16 later, Edinger would score his 28th goal of the season with helpers from Szabo and Gretzky. Gretzky would tally his second with under five minutes to play and Kevin Hansen would score an empty netter to ice the game with 28 seconds left.

Rod Branch started his 40th game and made 38 saves for his 20th win on the season.

The Mechanics remain on the road for another game on Tuesday. The Mechanics face-off against Danbury for a midweek meeting against the Trashers, face-off is slated for 7:00 p.m.
