
Mechanics Food Drive for Gleaners June 30

FRASER, Mi.- May 31, 2005-The Motor City Mechanics of the United Hockey League are excited to announce the Inaugural Summer Blast and Hockey vs Hunger Food Drive on Thursday, June 30th from 5-9pm.
Admission is free with a donation of non-perishable food items and the first 500 fans receive a free "Hockey vs Hunger Food Drive" t-shirt. Groups are encouraged to collect food and those who donate more than 500 items will receive a voucher good for 6 free tickets to a future Mechanics game. All food collected will be donated to Gleaners Community Food Bank.
The event will feature Mechanics' players available to sign autographs, a roller hockey clinic (conducted by Plex Arena staff), kid's games and prizes, face painters and a bounce house, and live music from the Steve Sommers Band. Information tables will be set-up by area businesses as well as the arena's youth hockey and Figure Skating Club.
"The Mechanics remind all hockey fans that hunger knows no season;" said team president, John Tull. "We encourage everyone to support Gleaners Food Bank on June 30th."
The event will also serve as an open house for fans interested in purchasing season tickets. Any fan purchasing season tickets before July 1 will be eligible to win an autographed Chris Chelios, Derian Hatcher, Bryan Smolinski or Joe Burton Mechanics' jersey.
