McGurk Traded to Owen Sound

Mississauga, ON - The Mississauga St. Michael's Majors announced today that the hockey club has traded Michael McGurk to the Owen Sound Attack for a 5th round pick in the 2010 draft.

McGurk, a 6'2", 205 lb. defenceman from Hamilton, Ontario, played for his hometown team, the Hamilton Reps, prior to joining the Majors in 2005-06. He collected 8 assists for 8 points with the Majors last year, and has won academic awards including OHL Academic Player of the Month for Mississauga in November, the Pepsi Scholastic Player of the Year Award at the inaugural Majors team banquet, and was a team nominee for the OHL Bobby Smith Scholastic Player of the Year. He has not registered a point in 7 games played this season.

Mississauga takes on the Niagara IceDogs this Friday evening at home at 7:30 p.m. Then, they visit the Attack on Saturday evening at 7:30 p.m. The Majors return to Mississauga on Sunday afternoon to take on the Ottawa 67's at 2 p.m. All Majors road games are available via webcast at www.stmichaelsmajors.com.
