The Bend Elks defeated the Walla Walla Sweets 6-2 at Borleske Stadium in Walla Walla Washington Thursday evening. Starting pitcher Patrick McGuff threw 8 2/3 innings giving up only 3 hits and 2 earned runs while striking out 9 Sweets for his league leading 6th win of the season. McGuff also leads the league in strikeouts, now with 45. At the plate West Tunnell knocked 3 hits for 2 RBI's.
The Elks continue to heave the best record in the league at 28-6 and lead the South Division by 9 games over the Corvallis Knights. Game 2 of the 3 games is set for Friday night at Borleske in Walla Walla. First pitch is set for 7:05 PM and the pregame show with Tris Reisfar at 6:45. Follow all the action at bendelks.com.
