A Shootout at the OK Corral went the way of the Wenatchee AppleSox on Thursday night at Elks Stadium as they knocked off the Kelowna Falcons by a 13-9 score.
Kelowna got on the board in the first inning with 3 runs as Brandon Oliver, Andre Jackson, and Brandon Grimsley each picked up RBI's.
The AppleSox would build up a 5-3 lead over the next 3 innings off of Dalton Blackwell, as they put up 8 hits on the Falcons righty, scoring with big extra-base hits.
Kelowna made it 5-4 in the bottom half of the 4th on an RBI double from Justin Flores, but a 4-spot against Jayse Bannister put the AppleSox up 9-5.
It would be the Falcons turn for the big inning in their half of the 7th, scoring 4 times on RBI singles from Kyle Plantier and Grant Meylan with 2 outs. Max Carter also had a Sac Fly.
The game would be put out of reach in the 9th when Wenatchee added 2 more runs for the 13-9 win. They pounded out 19 hits, including 6 doubles, a triple, and a homerun. Kelowna had 12 in a losing effort.
The Falcons will turn to Michael Koval on Friday night as he looks to get Kelowna back in the win column on $5 Friday (burger + pop) for just $5 against Wenatchee at 6:35.
