McGourty, McCall placed on IR, both out for most of regular season

April 5, 2005 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Chicago Rush News Release

Late last week the Chicago Rush placed FB/LB Jamie McGourty and lineman Jon McCall on the Arena Football League's injured reserve list. Today the team announced that the pair could each be out of action for at least eight weeks.

"It hurts to lose both McGourty and McCall for such an extended period of time," said Rush head coach Mike Hohensee. "McGourty is one of the team's veteran leaders and McCall was one of our top pass rushers. Now other guys will have to step up as we make our push in the second half of the season."

McGourty (6-2, 250, Springfield), the last remaining original member of the Rush, tore a tendon in his toe that will keep him out of the lineup for an indefinite period of time. McGourty has played in seven games this season, rushing for 56 yards and recording 7.5 tackles. He will be re-evaluated later this week.

McCall (6-3, 290, Central Michigan) is expected to be out eight to 12 weeks after undergoing surgery to repair a tendon in the middle finger on his left hand. A six-year veteran, McCall has played in seven games this season, recording one tackle.

The Rush (5-4) returns home to Allstate Arena at noon this Sunday, April 10, when it hosts the defending ArenaBowl champion San Jose SaberCats (6-3). Fans wishing to purchase tickets to the San Jose game, or any remaining Rush home game, may order by calling Ticketmaster at (312) 559-1212, or by visiting the Ticketmaster Web site at www.ticketmaster.com. Tickets also may be purchased in person at any Ticketmaster outlet or the Allstate Arena box office.
