McDonald Ties CPL Single-Season RBI Record
August 3, 2011 - Coastal Plain League (Coastal Plain) News Release
HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C. - The Coastal Plain League announced today that Morehead City Marlins All-Star designated hitter Chase McDonald (East Carolina) tied the league's single-season RBIs record during the final game of the regular season for the Marlins Tuesday night.
McDonald, who headed into the game with 50 RBIs, needed just one to tie and two to break the record of 51 set by Jason Dubois (Rocky Mount) in 1998. McDonald picked up the tying RBI in the bottom of the seventh inning.
On the 2011 summer season, McDonald was a beast at the plate. He finished the regular season with a league-best .403 average. Of his 73 hits, eight were doubles, and 13 were home runs; while he drove in 51 RBIs and 36 runs scored. He also had 120 total bases, a .663 slugging percentage and .469 on-base percentage.
