McDonald Pitches Catfish to 3-1 Win over Grasshoppers

Columbus, GA - The Columbus Catfish (17-19) ended a five-game losing skid with a 3-1 win over the Greensboro Grasshoppers (16-18) Saturday at Golden Park. RHP James McDonald (3-9) stopped the Grasshoppers for seven shutout innings to earn the win. He gave up just four hits and four walks while striking out five to end a personal five-game skid.

3B Russ Mitchell delivered an RBI single in the bottom of the first inning to give the Catfish a 1-0 lead. In the third inning Mitchell walked with the bases loaded for a second run. He added a sacrifice fly in the seventh inning to drive in the third and final run.

McDonald held off the Grasshoppers as the Catfish mounted the 3-0 lead. RHP Ramon Troncoso followed in relief and allowed just one run while earning his 11th save.

DH Jason Mooneyham walked in the third inning. He has reached base in 46 consecutive games and each of his 35 home games played with Columbus.
