McDonald Named BC Powder SAL Pitcher of the Week

Columbus, GA - Columbus Catfish RHP James McDonald needed just one outing to earn BC Powder South Atlantic League Pitcher of the Week honors for the week of August 28 through September 4. McDonald tossed a complete game shutout against the Charleston RiverDogs on Friday, September 1. He gave up just three hits and two walks while racking up 10 strikeouts to earn the win. The RiverDogs were able to advance a runner to third base only one time.

The gem extended McDonald's scoreless streak to 20 1/3 innings. He went 2-0 with a 1.54 ERA in his last five starts. During that time McDonald allowed just 21 hits and seven walks and recorded 32 strikeouts in 35 1/3 innings.

For the season McDonald went 5-10 with a 3.98 ERA. He led the Catfish with 146 strikeouts and 142 1/3 innings pitched while permitting just 119 hits. The 21-year-old Long Beach, California native was selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the eleventh round of the 2002 draft.
