
McDavid Breaks Otters' Record in 6-4 Loss

Owen Sound, Ont. - The Erie Otters made a valiant comeback on the road, but a four goal first period proved to be the difference for the Owen Sound Attack, as they took a 6-4 decision Saturday night in Ontario Hockey League action.
Zack Nastasiuk, Dan Catenacci, Kyle Hope and Cameron Brace each scored in the first period to give the Attack a 4-0 lead after 20 minutes of play.
Gemel Smith scored for the Attack 2:51 into the second period give the hosts a 5-0 lead. The Otters were able to get on the board with a power play tally at 4:54 of the second period. J.P. Labardo fired a shot from the right circle between the legs of Brandon Hope for his 24th goal of the season.
Brace scored his second goal of the game early in the third to give the Attack a 6-1 lead. The Otters then started to take control of the game as they scored three unanswered goals.
Kyle Pettit scored his third goal of the season after he whacked in the puck from the side of the net at 3:51.
Dane Fox put the Otters within three when he fired a wrist shot from the top of the left circle just under the crossbar at 7:44. Fox added another goal with less than two minutes remaining on a wraparound for his 18th goal of the season.
Connor McDavid assisted on both of Fox's goals, giving him a total of 37 assists to break an Otters single-season rookie record. McDavid also tied the team's single-season rookie points record of 62, set by Tim Connolly in the 1997-98 season.
The Otters comeback would fall short as they could not pull to within one. Brace led the way for the Attack with a four point night, as he collected two goals and two assists.
