Brandon Wheat Kings News Release

Brandon, Manitoba - The Brandon Wheat Kings, in association with TELUS, have announced that veteran forward Linden McCorrister has been chosen the hockey club's Player of the Month for December.

The 20-year old from Peguis averaged a point per game last month, scoring eight points - including a team leading six goals in 8 games. Of those six goals, three came on the powerplay, one was shorthanded and another was a game winner.

A former member of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League's Swan Valley Stampeders, McCorrister is in his fourth and final Western Hockey League season.

In 31 games this season, McCorrister has eleven goals and 23 points and in 161 career WHL games, he has scored 36 goals and eighty points.

Currently Brandon's lone overage player on its roster, McCorrister was chosen by the Wheat Kings in the seventh round of the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft and was a member of the 2016 Championship club.

McCorrister joins captain Stelio Mattheos and Luka Burzan as this year's TELUS monthly award winners.

This award is presented to the Wheat King, who best demonstrates success - both on and off the ice - as a teammate and role model in the community.

TELUS will present Linden with this monthly award during the first intermission of next this Friday's game against the visiting Seattle Thunderbirds at Westoba Place.

Tickets to both of this week's games are on sale now at the Keystone Centre box office, by calling (204) 726-3555 or online at keystonecentre.com

McCorrister and the Wheat Kings, who posted a 3-7-0 record during the month of December, will be hoping to snap a 4-game losing streak on Friday night.
