
MBFC Announces 2023 U.S. Open Cup Fixture

SEASIDE, Calif. - Monterey Bay F.C. announces today that the club will enter the 2023 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup in the Second Round and will meet USL League One side Central Valley Fuego FC in Fresno, California on Wednesday, April 5. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. PT at Fresno State University Soccer Stadium.
Monterey Bay F.C. enters the 104th edition of the cup in the second round alongside 23 other USL Championship sides, with winners advancing to the third round of the tournament that is set to take place on April 25-26 and will introduce 18 Major League Soccer (MLS) clubs into the mix. The draw for third round matchups will take place on April 8. Beyond the third round, the Round of 32 will see eight additional MLS sides join the fray and is slated for May 9-10.
The midweek match will be the Union's second appearance in U.S. Open Cup play after the team crashed out of the second round in the Club's inaugural season last year. A select number of U.S. Open Cup matches will air exclusively on the Bleacher Report App and B/R Football YouTube Channel. Monterey Bay's second round match will not be televised.
