Mayer Named to World Junior Team

Regina, Saskatchewan - The Regina Pats are proud to announce that Athletic Therapist, Greg Mayer will be the Head Therapist for Team Canada at the upcoming 2010 World Junior Hockey Championships, being held in Saskatoon and Regina.

This will be Mayer's second stint with Canada at the World Junior's. He was the Equipment Manager with the red and white at the 2001 World Juniors in Moscow, where Canada won a bronze. Mayer was also the Equipment Manager with Canada's U-18 team in 1999.

Mayer will be entering his 6th season as the Athletic Therapist with the Regina Pats, prior to that from 1997-98 to 2003-04 he was with the Moose Jaw Warriors in the same capacity.

"With so many great therapists in the hockey world, to work for Canada at the World Junior Hockey Championships for a second time is such an unbelievable honour." Greg Mayer continues "Having been with the team before, it makes it even more exciting to continue the winning tradition in my own back yard. It's even a bigger honour to have my family share my experience firsthand."

During the summer, Mayer is trains many of the top midget and junior players in Southern Saskatchewan. Getting them ready for another grueling hockey season
