PORT HURON, MI - "May the Force be with you" on Saturday, October 22ndwhen the Port Huron Fighting Falcons hold their second annual Star Wars Night at McMorran Arena. Tickets are just $7 in any section.
Characters from the classic Star Wars films will descend on the rink as the Fighting Falcons take on the Jamestown Ironmen at 7 p.m. Meet over a dozen characters from the 501st and Rebel Legions, and enjoy a broomball game between the characters during intermission.
The players will also wear specialty Star Wars jerseys that will be auctioned off, with proceeds benefiting Mercy Hospital's Pink Ribbon Fund. Most jerseys will be available through a silent auction at the arena's upper West end, and a select few will go in a live on-ice auction following the game.
This year's jersey features the mighty wookiee Chewbacca, with Rebel Alliance logos on the shoulders, and Millennium Falcon silhouettes around the waist. A pink breast cancer awareness ribbon appears on the upper left of the jersey's front side. The jerseys were designed by Great Lakes Garrison's Scott Withers.
Star Wars Night is a tradition the Fighting Falcons have adopted from the Port Huron Icehawks, who held a pair of Star Wars Nights in their final two seasons in the Blue Water Area. For four years now, hockey fans have enjoyed the opportunity for photo opportunities and interactions with characters from the beloved film series.
