
Mavs Assign Podkolzin to NBA D-League Flyers

DALLAS, March 7 - The Dallas Mavericks have assigned center Pavel Podkolzin to the Fort Worth Flyers of the NBA Development League. Podkolzin, who has yet to appear in a game for Dallas this season, has been rehabbing from a stress fracture in his right foot.
Last season, Podkolzin appeared in five games for a total of 10 minutes. He spent the first 52 games of his rookie season on the injured list with torn cartilage in his right knee.
The last time the Russian played competitively was in July of 2005 in the Reebok Vegas Summer League and the Reebok Rocky Mountain Revue. In nine total games, he averaged 8.0 points (52.2% shooting) and 4.4 rebounds in 18.1 minutes per game.
At 7-5, Podkolzin in the second tallest player in the NBA behind Houston's Yao Ming (7-6). He was originally the 21st overall pick in the 2004 NBA Draft by the Utah Jazz before his rights were acquired by Dallas in exchange for a future first round pick.
Podkolzin is the third player to be assigned to Fort Worth from the Mavericks. Rawle Marshall and Josh Powell have also played for Flyers coach Sam Vincent.
