The Mavericks came out fast in the first quarter and scored the first eight points of the game behind baskets by Josh Pace, DeRon Rutledge, and Jon Rogers. The first period belonged totally to the Mavs as they led after one period of play 28-14.

The second period was a knock down drag out fight as both teams played at a fierce pace. Desmond Cambridge and Ronnie McMahan led the comeback attack by the Stars. The Mavericks bench led by Alex Sanders, Lamar Sanders, and Currye Todd fought off the comeback attempts of the Stars. The Mavs took a 52-43 lead into the locker-room at half-time.

The second half was a physical war that saw the #1 and #2 ABA teams go head to head for 24 eye raising minutes. Both teams would makes runs as war was waged between the Mavericks and Stars. In the end the second half ended in a 52-52 tie, but the Mavericks held to its first half lead to bring home a 9 point victory.

SCORING/SUPERLATIVES: Mavericks- Jon Rogers 18 pts/8 reb/3 blocks, Herman Favor 15pts/8 reb/4 assist, Alex Sanders 16 pts/9 reb, Josh Pace 13 pts/5 reb, Currye Todd 12 pts/4 assist

NOTES:

* Lamar Sanders pulled down a season high 10 rebounds.

* Anthony Lumpkin led the Mavs in assist with 7 on the night.

* SETX Mavericks Head Coach Steve Tucker won the 500th game of his coaching career.

* The Mavericks have now won four straight games over the last two seasons when the #1 and #2 teams meet head to head.

MAVS NEXT GAME: The Mavericks continue their longest road trip of the season as they travel to Owensboro, KY to take on the defending ABA Champs on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon.
