Mavericks Set Strategy for the Future

August 30, 2011 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Southeast Texas Mavericks News Release

It is officially announced today that the SETX Mavericks will not play in any League this upcoming Fall of 2011.

At the end of last season after Winning Back to Back Pro Basketball National Championships the Mavericks made the decision to leave the ABA. The intention at the time was to join the NBA D League. Obviously, for several reasons, that did not work out. The Mavericks have been approached by and have looked at several other opportunities which were just not good fits for the Professional Basketball Team & Organization.

The SETX Mavericks Pro Basketball Team & Organization has "SET A STANDARD OF EXCELLENCE" for ALL others to follow over the past three seasons! With that said, the Mavericks also have established a Legacy & Tradition they want left intact and that will not be tarnished in anyway. The Mavericks will only move forward if they have an opportunity to play at what they perceive to be a level that enhances what has already been built.

The accomplishments of the Mavericks are long and distinguished! The SETX Mavericks stand among the best to ever play the Game of Professional Basketball on this level. What has been accomplished will live on... And in the future the Mavericks hope to add on to their Legacy & Tradition!

The SETX Mavericks Pro Basketball Organization will stay intact. Coach Steve Tucker will remain with the Organization as General Manager/Head Coach. They will remain active in the community & area. The Coach T Basketball School will be established. The Basketball Operations will remain active.

The Mavericks are still actively looking at options and developing them as well. In the future, it will be revealed on what is being looked at and worked on.

Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams. For information on professional minor leagues, please see OSC's basketball section.
