Indianapolis, IN. The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that it is joining The City of Legends to present a series of Celebrity Charity Golf Tournaments in selected ABA cities through the spring, summer and fall.

The ABA, in facilitating a very important goal of teams that "give back to their community," has an agreement with and endorses the City of Legends located in Clermont, Florida, to work with teams that will host celebrity charity golf tournaments in their city. The City of Legends is a unique multi-faceted corporation that is owned and operated by "Sudden" Sam McDowell, former MLB All-Star player. COL has under contract more than 9,000 celebrities throughout the US. McDowell and City of Legends have been involved in designing, initiating and managing elite golf tournaments for more than 40 years.

"We are very excited about this relationship," stated ABA CEO Joe Newman. "This is a unique opportunity for ABA teams to generate great publicity as well as to support local and national charities. The City of Legends offers a turnkey event through its designed operations manual that will provide the teams with an A to Z guide for each tournament and also secures all of the celebrities for the teams. How great is that?"

"Our program is fueled through vendors, businessmen, government officials and others within each community," added McDowell. "We want to stress the fact that these are not only celebrity golf tournaments, but charitable golf tournaments and one of the reasons we're teaming up with the ABA is because of their commitment to community and the work they do with Boys & Girls Clubs, YMCA's, PAL's,

schools and youth groups. It's a natural and we know that we can draw from a fabulous group of celebrities for each tournament."

The ABA is now in the process of selecting the cities which will be announced shortly.

Sam McDowell spent 14 years in major league baseball with the Indians, Yankees, Giants and Pirates.

He was the youngest to ever strike out 300 in a season and only one of three to average 9 strikeouts a game along with Nolan Ryan and Sandy Koufax and holds the consecutive record for 1-hitters in MLB and also the lowest ERA ever in the MLB for a left handed starting pitcher, 1.81 in 1968. He is considered to the hardest throwing pitcher in MLB history. Working with McDowell is Steve Pisarkiewicz, former NFL quarterback who was the first quarterback drafted in 1977 (#19 in first round) and had a good career with the St. Louis Cardinals and the Green Bay Packers. He was instrumental in the development of NFL Europe.

Dick Packer, ABA Director of Special Projects, will oversee all of the ABA involvement with the tournaments.
