INDEPENDENCE, Missouri - The Missouri Mavericks lost their third straight game Thursday night, 3-1, to the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs at Independence Events Center. Jordan Foreman scored the only goal for the Mavericks (20-22-4), and Gerry Festa stopped 20 of 23 shots in his first loss in regulation in four starts. David Rutherford had a pair of goals for the Mudbugs (25-16-4), but it was goaltender John DeCaro that stole the show stopping 42 of 43 shots for Bossier-Shreveport. The Mavericks concluded their six-game home stand with a 2-3-1 record, and Missouri now trails the Tulsa Oilers by three points for the fifth and final playoff spot in the Northern Conference.

Foreman got the Mavericks on the board first with his fourth goal of the season at the 10:06 mark of the first period. The goal came with just three seconds remaining on the Mavericks second power play of the night and Nick Sirota and Todd Paul earned assists. Missouri held the lead through the remainder of the period and outshot Bossier-Shreveport 13-11.

The Mudbugs tied the game late in the second period when Simon Mangos found a loose puck in a scrum in front of the net and backhanded it into the net. It marked his 10th goal of the season on assists from Jeff Kyrzakos and Joe Blaznek. The power play goal marked the first power play goal scored against the Mavericks in six games. Missouri had killed 23 straight power plays before Mangos' goal.

Rutherford gave the Mudbugs a 2-1 lead just 34 seconds later on his ninth goal of the season. He took a pass from Mangos and beat Mavericks' goaltender Gerry Festa stick side. It proved to be the game-winner although the Mavericks gave everything they had in the third period.

Missouri peppered Mudbugs' goaltender John Decaro with 23 shots in the final period, but the Mavericks were unable to get another puck past Decaro. Missouri held Bossier-Shreveport to just five shots in the period, but Rutherford netted his second of the game after a nice individual effort by Tyrel Lucas. Lucas fought through a defenseman and made a nice centering pass to Rutherford in the slot who banged it home for his 10th goal of the season.

Missouri finished with 43 shots on net compared to just 23 for the Mudbugs, but it was Bossier-Shreveport who took advantage of their chances and skated away with the 3-1 victory. The Mavericks finished 1-7 on the power play while Bossier-Shreveport was 1-4.

The Mavericks travel to Wichita Friday night looking to break their three-game winless streak (0-2-1). Missouri will return home to take on the Mississippi RiverKings Saturday night at Independence Events Center.
