St. John's Edge News Release
St. John's, NL - The NBL of Canada announced on Sunday that Maurice Jones Sr. has been named as the player of the week for the week ending December 9th.
On the week Jones Sr. played consistently throughout a 3-game St. John's Edge road trip to Atlantic Canada. His top performance coming against the Cape Breton Highlanders, in the Edge 109-92 win, Jones Sr. recorded the first triple-double of the season in the NBL Canada. The Saginaw, Michigan native put up 19 points, 11 assists, and 10 rebounds in the victory.
When asked about the performance of Maurice Jones Sr., Head Coach Doug Plumb stated: "I think that in the past couple of games he took the leadership by the horns and dictated how we're going to play.", Plumb would also mention how impressive it is to watch Jones Sr. rebound, "I was watching the film and my 5'7" guy is boxing out 6'5" forwards and getting rebounds.".
The St. John's Edge congratulate Maurice Jones Sr. on being named the Player of the Week and look forward to this being the first of many selections for this recognition for Edge players throughout the rest of the 2018-19 season.
Your St. John's Edge get back to work on December 14th and the December 16th as they take on the Island Storm at Mile One Centre.
