The Highlanders split their two games this week, including achieving a thrilling overtime victory against the Island Storm. Kenny Jones showed his strength by averaging 20..0 ppg and 11.5 rpg in the two Cape Breton contests.
Halifax Hurricanes

The Hurricanes' four-game winning streak was snapped by the Moncton Magic, 95-91 on Sunday afternoon at Scotiabank Centre. Jordan Washington scored 22 points and blocked two shots to lead the Hurricanes in both categories, while Mike Poole was th top rebounder, with nine boards.
Island Storm

The Island Storm suffered a close Saturday night loss to the Cape Breton Highlanders 116-115, despite Jerrell Tate double- doubling with 24 points and 10 rebounds; he was one of three PEI players with double-doubles in the game, joining Sampson Carter (22 pts, 15 rebs) and Tyree White (12 rebs, 10 pts).
KW Titans

Joel Friesen came off the bench in his first game with Kitchener- Waterloo, and his 31 points in 28 minutes of play helped the Titans surpass London 123-97 to move the Kitchener-Waterloo squad to a .500 record. Derek Hall and Greg Morrow finished the game with 15 and 14 points, respectively.
London Lightning

The Lightning struggled this week, winning only one of three games; their two losses were by more than 20 points apiece. For the week, the hottest scorer for the Bolts was Maurice Bolden with 17.7 ppg and 11.3 rpg, while Marvin Phillips and Xavier Moon put up numbers of 12.7 ppg and 12.0 ppg.

Moncton extended their season-high unbeaten streak to eight wins, the third-longest winning streak to start an NBL season. Their eighth win came against Halifax on Sunday afternoon, 95- 91, with Wayne McCullough on fire for the Magic with 21 points, 14 rebounds and 3 steals.
Saint John Riptide

After struggling out the gate with five losses, the Riptide turned things around on their Ontario road trip, notching two victories against the Sudbury Five and London Lightning to crawl out of the NBL cellar. Newcomer Frank Bartley led the Riptide in scoring with a 25.5 ppg average, while Daniel Dingle's play off the bench garnered him a 7.0 rebounds per game average.
St. John's Edge

The Edge claimed a win in their only game this week, a 109-92 victory over Cape Breton Tuesday night in which Maurice Jones Sr. scored the league's first triple-double of the 2018-19 season (19 pts, 10 rebs, 11 ast). Carl English led the Edge in scoring with 28 points, including going 6-for-11 from 3-point range.
Sudbury Five

Sudbury split their two games this week, their one win against Windsor on Sunday was tempered by giving up a win to the Saint John Riptide earlier in the week. Sudbury's 1-2 punch of Braylon Rayson and Jaylen Bland notched 27.0 and 20.0 ppg, respectively, while Grandy Glaze averaged a double-double of 15.5 ppg and 13.5 rpg.
Windsor Express

The Express lost two games this week by a combined score of three points, dumping Windsor into the standings cellar. Ryan Anderson and DeAndre Thomas both put 17.5 points per game on the scoreboard, while Juan Pattillo isn't far behind with 16.5 ppg.

NBL CANADA PLAYER OF THE WEEK
The National Basketball League of Canada is pleased to announce that Maurice Jones, Sr. of the St. John's Edge has been named Player of the Week for the week ending December 9, 2018.
Jones, a 5'7" guard who played collegiately at Northwood, earned the NBL's first triple-double of the 2018-19 season when his 19 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds helped the Edge surpass Cape Breton 109-92.
"I think that Mo's the heartbeat of our team," said Edge head coach Doug Plumb, "and I think that in the past couple of games he took the leadership by the horns and dictated how we're going to play. I thought that Mo was fantastic in that game, he took the team on his back. I was watching the film and my 5'7" guy is boxing out 6'5" forwards and getting rebounds."

NBL CANADA CANADIAN PLAYER OF THE WEEK
The National Basketball League of Canada is pleased to announce that Joel Friesen of the Kitchener-Waterloo Titans has been named Canadian Player of the Week for the week ending December 9, 2018.
In his first game with the Titans this season, Friesen, a 6'4 guard who played collegiately at Alberta, came off the bench to score 31 points and pull down six rebounds in the Titans' 123-97 Sunday afternoon game against the London Lightning.
"Joel has been a significant part of our league for the past three seasons," said Chuck Miller, NBL Canada League Statistician. "And in his first game back in the NBL, and coming off the bench, he drops 31 points against his old team. That's showing some serious fire."

NBL CANADA COACH OF THE MONTH
The National Basketball League of Canada is pleased to announce that Joe Salerno of the Moncton Magic has been named Coach of the Month for November 2018. This is Salerno's third Coach of the Month honours, as he joins Halifax's Mike Leslie and Windsor's Bill Jones as current coaches with three-time career Coach of the Month achievements
Salerno and the Moncton Magic finished November with a 6-0 regular season record, the best start for any New Brunswick-based NBL Canada team in league history. Only the 2012-13 London Lightning and 2016-17 Halifax Hurricanes have achieved a longer winning streak to start an NBL Canada season.
"Coach Salerno's hard work and dedication to this league have paid off this season," said Chuck Miller, NBL Canada Director of League Statistics. "He has a good solid balance of veteran talent and new faces, and the end result is a fast start to his eighth season in the league."
