May 11, 2005 - National Indoor Football League (NIFL)
Montgomery Bears News Release
MONTGOMERY, Ala. â The Montgomery Maulers announce that starting with the home game of Saturday, May 14, the team will grill and serve organized group picnic meals at an area known as the South Gate Picnic Grove outside Garrett Coliseum.
Long in the planning stages, the picnics, debuting with a group of about 250 employees of Colonial Bank, will be made available to families and individuals who pre-purchase a special meal ticket at the Maulers' Eastdale Mall offices.
Priced at $12 per adult (age 13 and over) and $8 per youth (ages 3 to 12), the picnic tickets will be punched by servers of a variety of hot grilled sandwiches, side items and canned beverages. The menu includes hamburgers, hot dogs, sausages, barbeque beans, chips, soft drinks and other surprise items.
The Maulers plan to handle all setup, cooking, service and cleanup, with the picnics beginning two hours before game time and ending up as the gates open. On Saturday nights, this means a 5:30 â 6:30 pm picnic for the 7:30 pm games; for the Sunday, May 22 game, picnic service will be from 1:00 â 2:00 pm, with a 3:00 pm game time.
"This is a great option for fans to come out early and enjoy a tailgating atmosphere without having to lift a finger," said Rick Jacobson, Maulers Vice President of Sales and Marketing. "We plan to have players and dancers visit the picnickers, provide amenities such as inflatable games for the kids and give our fans a great meal and lead-in for the fun that awaits them inside the Coliseum."
For details on the organized group picnics, based on 15 persons or more and including a group-discounted game ticket, please call the Maulers at (334) 277-1881. Others wishing to join the picnics must pre-purchase their picnic tickets at the Maulers office; they cannot be sold at the Coliseum or picnic grove area.
