Hawgs have perfection at stake as well

Daytona Beach Hawgs News Release
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla -- Perfection's on the line Saturday night when the Daytona Beach Hawgs meet the Everett Hawks on TUI Business Machines Field at the Ocean Center.
Yeah, Everett's undefeated. That's nice. Go to their web site. We're discussing the Hawgs trying to stay unbeaten at home in the biggest game of the National Indoor Football League to date.
Daytona Beach is 5-0 in the Hawg Pound this season.
"That's what it's all about, taking care of your house,'' said Head Coach General Manager Ervin Bryson. "Going 7-0 at home is within reach. Whatever Everett's record is, we have to be ready for them and play our game."
Everett and Odessa are the league's only undefeated teams. There has been one undefeated team in the NIFL's history -- the 2003 Ohio Valley Greyhounds that won the championship with a 17-0 mark. And since this is Florida, any talk of perfection brings to mind the 1972 Miami Dolphins. The Hawgs' 53-37 victory over the Miami Morays Saturday came at the expense of a member of that famed team -- Head Coach Larry Little.
"Everything has to go right for a team to be unbeaten,'' Bryson said. "You have to avoid injuries, overcome that one bad game you're going to play that season, get a break or two. An undefeated season doesn't happen very often, and you have to appreciate if you are ever are part of it.
"But I'll take a 7-0 home record in an inaugural season any day, and that's why we need to be Everett Saturday.
Kickoff is 7:05 p.m.
